Protecting Your Rights. Defending Your Future. Serving the Greater Toronto Area.
If you’ve been arrested, charged with a criminal offence, or believe you’re under investigation, the single most important thing you can do is speak with a GTA criminal defence lawyer before saying anything to police. Pazuki Law is a criminal defence firm led by Ali Pazuki, representing individuals across Toronto, Newmarket, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Aurora, Bradford, York Region, Simcoe County, Barrie, Bradford, Orillia, Collingwood, and Midland, and all of southern and central Ontario.
Criminal charges in Ontario move quickly. Limitation periods, bail conditions, and disclosure timelines all start ticking the moment you’re charged. What you do—and what you say—in the early hours of a case can shape everything that follows. At Pazuki Law, we give clients a clear picture of where they stand and a realistic strategy for what comes next, from the first call through to resolution.
Most people who face criminal charges have never been through the process before. The system is unfamiliar, the stakes feel enormous, and the language lawyers and courts use doesn’t always make things clearer. That’s a problem we take seriously at Pazuki Law.
Every client gets a direct explanation of their charges, what the Crown needs to prove, and what the realistic range of outcomes looks like. No jargon, no runaround. If your matter resolves early through negotiation or a withdrawal, we’ll tell you. If it needs to go to trial, we’ll prepare for it properly. Either way, you’re never left guessing about where your case stands.

As criminal defence lawyers serving the Greater Toronto Area, Pazuki Law represents clients facing a wide range of charges under the Criminal Code of Canada and related federal statutes, including:
Where eligible, Pazuki Law also assists clients with record suspension applications and non-disclosure orders to address the long-term impact of a past conviction.
The moment you know you’re being investigated, arrested, or charged. Not after you’ve spoken with police. Not after your first court date. The earlier you have legal counsel, the more time there is to review the evidence, identify procedural issues, and build a defence strategy that actually reflects your situation.
No. You have the right to remain silent and the right to retain and instruct counsel without delay under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Beyond providing basic identifying information in limited circumstances, you are not required to answer investigative questions. Anything you say can and will be used against you—so say nothing until you’ve spoken with a lawyer.
A drug defence lawyer is a criminal defence lawyer with specific experience handling charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act—including possession, trafficking, and production allegations. Drug cases frequently turn on whether the search that produced the evidence was lawful. If police violated your Charter rights in the course of their investigation, evidence may be excludable under section 24(2). This is highly fact-specific work that requires someone who knows what to look for in the disclosure.
A charge alone doesn’t automatically create a criminal record—but a conviction does, and its effects can be long-lasting. How your case is resolved matters enormously. In some circumstances, charges can be withdrawn, stayed, or resolved in ways that avoid a conviction entirely. A record suspension (formerly called a pardon) may be available later, but prevention is always better than remediation.
For many routine appearances, your lawyer can attend on your behalf so you don’t have to take time away from work or family. Some appearances—guilty pleas, trials, and certain hearings—require your personal attendance. Pazuki Law will tell you clearly which dates are mandatory and make sure you’re fully prepared for each one.
Contact a criminal defence lawyer before taking any action. A lawyer can review the warrant, explain what it relates to, and advise you on how to address it in a way that protects your rights and minimises the risk of harm. Presenting yourself without legal advice can create problems that are difficult to undo.
You don’t need to wait until your first court date to call a lawyer. In fact, waiting is one of the most common and costly mistakes people make after being charged. The earlier you have legal advice, the more options you have. Facing criminal charges doesn’t mean facing them alone.
